The late Walter Brueggemann, one of the most widely respected Old Testament Scholars of the past century, wrote, “It is the vocation of the prophet to keep alive the ministry of imagination, to keep on conjuring and proposing future alternatives to the single one the king wants to urge as the only thinkable one.”
It is our calling at Act Five to grow as a learning and discipleship hub. In our annual Winter Learning Series, we invite six scholars to deepen our understanding of scripture and story.
This Winter, we’re excited to welcome six incredible speakers to explore different aspects of Christian Imagination today, from the roots of Christian thought to the deformations, permutations and poetic grace springing up in our community and across the globe.
The series is titled Unreliable Instincts: The Case for a Robust Christian Imagination.
The Winter Learning series will be held in Hamilton, ON running for six weeks on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm, beginning on Wednesday, February 18th and finishing on Wednesday, March 25th. It costs $10/night or $50 to attend all six evenings.
Each year we welcome diverse participants of all ages to learn together, to enjoy compelling stories, engaging teaching and vibrant conversation. Stay tuned to learn who this year’s speakers are.
