Act Five is expanding its operations to include space for five to seven young adults to live year-round at the Act Five residence. The goal of the Act Five Residency Program is to provide a formative community living experience for young adults who are pursuing study or work in the city of Hamilton through shared participation in the Act Five learning community (meals, prayer, song, scripture, recreation, some program outings).

Young adults (~20-30 years old) looking for a community in which to learn, practice and grow in their faith while engaging in their neighbourhood and city.

Expectations
8-10 hours/week of commitments

Participation in spiritual formation rhythms: Evensong & Bible Studies
Spaghetti Wednesday community meal
Shared participation in household chores and property care
A conscious effort to make this place home, investing in the home, neighbourhood & city
1-2 weekends/term as “on call” volunteers
Shared responsibility of caring for the home when the Act Five program is away
“Ministry of presence” and a willingness to invest in community relationships (with gap year students as well as the other Act Five Residents)

Anything we should know about you
Pricing
$900/month for a single room, $650 for a shared room *We do not want cost to be a barrier; communicate with us as needed.
Cost breakdown:
$200 – meals & other food
$50 contingency (to cover unexpected costs and cover risks – e.g. damage repair)
$50 utilities
$600 bedroom, bathrooms, access to all common spaces & staff support ($350 if shared room)
Note: We prioritize applicants who can commit to a minimum of 8-12 months in the Act Five community, but we welcome applications from all interested individuals.
